As most of you know I've been teaching voice lessons for years now. Well, the student I've had the longest (5 years), and my best singer...was in Grease! the musical last weekend. Karley played the part of Rizo, and totally stole the show. I know I sound biased...but trust me, she out acted and out sang everyone on that stage! Several people made comments about it. I was so proud! She's competing at State Solo and Ensemble this weekend...wish her luck!

Bath tub woes!
I was running the bath water for Jake, and went to go get a towel. I was gone for literally 10 seconds and came back to this!
Cookies with Mommy
I wasn't feeling well this past week. Mommy tried everything to keep me from running around, so that I could rest and get better, but nothing seemed to work. Until, that is...we made peanut butter cookies! Not just any old peanut butter cookies, but cookies made with whole wheat flour, honey, and dark brown sugar. They were not only yummy, they were good for me too! I really enjoyed myself. I kept saying "mmm!" at the top of my lungs, while trying to eat the dough. Mommy had a good time too. She said her kitchen was messy (I don't know what she's talking about) but that it was worth it. I hope we get to make more soon!

So many new things!
Jake loves this hat! It's way too small on him...it's supposed to go on a stuffed ginger bread man at Mimi's house!
Jake is changing at record pace. He is talking so well now, and soaking up everything like a sponge. He's done so many funny things, and I have to write them down...
Warrior Child!
Brian turned on the TV and Lord of the Rings was on. Of course it's too violent for Jake, so he turned it right away...but Jake saw a battle scene where everyone was running to the field with swords raised and shouting battle cries. I guess he loved it because a few minutes later, he had picked up the dowel that we use to lock the sliding glass door, was holding it up as high as he could, while running and yelling at the top of his lungs. Then I started doing the same thing and he couldn't stop laughing.
No, No, No, Jake!
Just as I woke up one morning, Jake was in his crib talking to himself. I heard all kinds of mummerings, and then I hear, "No, no, NO, NO! No, Jake!" I felt terrible! Is that all he ever hears?!
I Dub Doo!
One night Brian and I went out to dinner and left Jake with Mimi and Grandad. I gave Jake a hug, and said " I love you!" as I was walking out the door, when Brian and I hear, "I dub doo!" ....His first I love you!
Hot Ball
For some reason, any ball is a 'Hot Ball." Football, basketball, baseball, golf ball, even hockey, is Hot Ball! We have no idea where this came from!!! :)
Beez?
I read a book of rhymes to Jake every night before bed. One of the rhymes goes like this...
Here is the bee hive.
Where are the bees?
Hidden away where nobody sees.
Watch them now, come out of the hive...
One, two, three, four, five...
BZZZZZZ! All fly way! (I always tickle him on this part)
Anyway, he always asks me to say the rhyme by saying "Beez?" and when I do, he smiles from ear to ear, and sticks out his belly in happiness. Too cute!
Jake is developing into such a person now! So much personality, likes and dislikes, even a sense of humor! I can't believe how much fun he's become in the past few months. I just want to squeeze him all the time! Who knew having a baby would be so wonderful?

The Sweetest Kid EVER!
Ok, I know there are a ton of these cute stories, but this one made me cry. And those who know me well also know that I don't cry very easy!
This is the scene: Jake just woke up from his nap begging for a hot dog. Not quite sure why, because it's been literally months since he's had one... So, I tell him, sure he can have a hot dog. Thanks goodness for frozen corndogs right? So I sit him down in his high chair with his hot dog and some strawberries in front of the TV. Meanwhile I start to do some dishes. Well after a short while, he stops eating, stops watching TV, and calmly says
"Mah-ee? Mah-ee?" (that's Jake for Mommy)
"Yes, Jake?" I respond.
"Teht too!" (thank you) He says with a really sweet smile. And then promply returns to eating and watching Dora.
I'm telling you, I about fell over. I mean who gets delayed gratitude from a 19 month old? Who?! I mean to stop and think about it and then to tell me!? You can't get more than that, ever!
What a great kid... :)

Ok, he doesn't know that boys don't wear these!
So, I'm doing laundry so there are clothes all over the place, when I smell something. I stop to change Jake's diaper and he runs from me before I can get his jeans on...I chase him into the laundry room, where he pics up my bra, and tries to put it on! Too funny! I had to get pics!
The Dallas Auto Show
Ok, we went forever and a day ago and I haven't posted pics yet. What you have to understand is that Brian and I would never go to the car show for ourselves...just not that into cars. But we knew Jake would get a kick out of it, so we packed up and went. Boy were we in for it! He LOVED it. He ran, I mean RAN, not walked, from car to car and wanted inside all of them. He didn't care if it was a BMW or a KIA, he just wanted in. He was so cute. He also wore himself out. He was so tired by the time we left, that he was begging to go 'nigh nigh' while at the same time running to a car. Too cute.
I might let you in Dad...I might not...
How do I look in this one?
Ok, you can't see or hear what's going on, but he is literally panting with excitement!
Blue just might be my color...
Here he is, running to another car while Brian chases him. This was the norm for the day!!!
Hey Dad, I can't fit in these cars!

Hey Dad, I can't fit in these cars! The Zoo
We went to the zoo last Sunday and had a good time. Jake was awe struck when he first saw the Elephant. He just sat in my arms with this dopey grin on his face! It was so cute. I don't think he knew what to think! He's really enjoyed learnig more about animals after this trip. He's learned a whole bunch of animal sounds (all the ones I can think of!) and now we're moving on to thinks about the animals...like elephants have big ears...

My first real hug!
Jake gave me a hug, without me asking, for the first time yesterday. It was the sweetest thing EVER. I was just sitting outside while he was playing and he came up, put his head on my lap and said "awww..." My heart just melted. I've never had a hug mean so much to me before. It was if the world's troubles no longer mattered because my sweet boy was hugging me.... *sigh* If only we could live in those moments forever....
These are pictures from Jake's Great Uncle Jerry's and Great Aunt Rita's Ranch. He has a blast out there. He LOVES riding the tractor!!!

So there's this cat...
Jake is obsessed with this cat that keeps coming over. It's really sweet, and isn't agressive towards Jake at all, he won't even let him touch her! Of course it's skinny and I feel sorry for it. I made the fatal mistake and fed it once...so now it's over all the time. I haven't fed it since, but we'll see how long it takes me to give in. Anyway, here are some pics of Jake and his favorite pet!
