So this card took me hours and hours. I couldn't get it right. Don't ask why... I'm not really sure. I'm still not super happy with it. There are little problems that bug me. The spacing isn't right. I wanted the texture on the background to show up more. You can't see at all in the printed cards. I never could get the 2007 just right...I don't know what's wrong with it, but it's not 'just right.' If your an artist you know what I'm talking about. There are things I love about it too though. I love the fact that the background matches his sweater. Unusual colors for a Christmas card, but I love his sweater so much. And of course the shots of Jake are GREAT. Thanks to Katie for taking the phenomenal pictures! She's so great at taking kids shots. Well, any shots for that matter, but especially kids. Anyway, if you didn't get a Christmas card from me, I don't have your mailing address, because everyone got one this year!

Found memories

I was cleaning out the junk drawer and found these old memories jotted down on a piece of paper. I guess I never got them in the baby book. Anyway, these are old, but cute.

5/30/07
Jake wanted to go out and play in the sandbox, but it was raining. I told him to go look outside. He did and said, "Oh man..."

He loves to say TOUCHDOWN and throw his hands in the air when any kind of score happens in any kind of sport.

He put a bowl on Daddy's head and called it a helmet. Daddy knocked on the 'helmet' and Jake said, "Heh-yo!?" (Hello) This made us laugh out loud.

Jake's first sentence.
We brought home lemon chicken from Pei Wei - Jake's favorite dish. We had to change his diaper first. This made him very upset. He cried " Daddy all gone!?" I guess he was afraid he would eat it all up!"

Words What they sound like
Shovel.......... Shobel
Blanket........ Bechich
Train........... Tane
Car/Cars .... Cah-sh
Hello............ Heh-yo

06/07/07
We were putting Jake to bed. I started talking about Jesus and how he loves us. I told him that "He loves you. He loves Mommy, and He loves Daddy. Jake heard this and said,
"Noooooo" about the daddy part.
Daddy laughed and replied "I hope so!"

Jake said Jesus for the first time today. It was beautiful.

Now
Reading these old memories makes me realize how much Jake has changed in such a short time. That was only 7 months ago, but that seems like a million years ago! Kids are so amazing. I just love my little boy so much and am so glad I get to spend everyday with him and watch him grow and change.

Jake Jargon III

I was telling Jake a story before bed when he interrupted me.
"My best friend?" Jake asks.
Which has nothing to do with the story I'm telling, but you know with a 2 year old, you just go with it...
"What Honey?" I ask.
"My best friend?" He says.
"Who's your best friend, Honey?"
"Daddy!" He happily replies.
"Daddy is your best friend?"
"Mm Hmm!" He says. Then he's all content and wants me to to continue with the story. I could barely remember, because I was thinking how great it was that he thinks such things!

How cute is that!?

Jake was really tired and couldn't get to sleep. He was bawling and totally losing control of himself. So we go upstairs and I'm holding him and telling him that he needs to calm down. He just keeps crying. So I say,
"Jake, Honey go to sleep and you'll feel better. You've just lost control of yourself."
"I LOST CONTROL!!!!" He wails!
It was really hard not to laugh!

We were driving home and we had been in the car for about 30 minutes. We were almost home and Jake was complaining about wanting to be there. All of a sudden he yells out,
"We're lost!!!"

Where do they get these things?!

Jake Jargon Part II

Brian's sister is pregnant and we are so excited! If you ask Jake what Susan is doing, he replies... "She's makin' a baby! She's fixin' a cousin!"

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So all our Christmas decorations are out and Jake is loving all of the fun stuff around. One of my favorite things is a gold sleigh that is on the fire place. I used to put glass ornaments in it, but now it's full of stuffed Christmas bears. Well Jake was playing with the sleigh and he asks me about the "soapin' sleigh.' I didn't know what he was talking about at first but it didn't take me long... Sing this out loud and you'll get it too...

Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way...
Oh what fun it is to ride in a one horse open sleigh!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We were in the bathroom waiting for Jake's bathtub to fill up. He was naked and running in circles having a blast. He caught a glimpse of himself in the mirror and said "I running in circles?" and said yes he was, then I hear "My wee wee? My wee wee going in circles too?"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jake and Brian were eating dinner. Jake kept putting too much food in his mouth at a time. Brian said "Jake, finish what your eating before you shove more food in your mouth." So Jake finished his bite and asked "Shove food in my mouth now?"

The Big Christmas Show!

Jake's first Christmas show was today at Mother's day out at Suncreek. He was soooo cute. Well, they were all cute! I thought he would cry when he saw us in the audience, but he was so happy to see us! He kept saying "Mommy's here...Daddy's here! Mommy's taking a picture!" He was an angel at the big production, notice the little halo on his head!

Walking in...

The whole gang of angels...if you look closely you'll see a bunch of them bawling!!!

He wasn't crying, but he didn't really know what to think about anything!

What's going on?

Who's that?

It's Mommy!

And there's Daddy!

My mommy and daddy are here!

I can't believe it! They're really here!

Did you see them! My mommy and daddy are here!

His "baby." He had to take a 'baby' to rock. He chose a Harley Davidson monkey. Uncle David would be so proud!

The show!

Noel...Noel...Noel...Noel...

Ok Austin, this is how these bells work...

I'm done with the halo!

My sweet heart!

All done!

The cast party.

Mimi congratulating the performer!!

There's nothing like Mimi's love!

The Big Star!

The "after the cast party" party! We had limeades, and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches! Jake wore antlers!

Catching up some more...

A bunch more pics and stories to try to catch up before the bulk of the holiday season hits!

On his way to the zoo and really happy about it. Isn't he handsome?

At the zoo with Aunt Sharon!

Hey Mr. Penguin! Waddlin' like a penguin!

Jake and the penguin look like they've never seen anything like that before!

So what's over there?

Jake saw this old car while we were trick or treating and you would have thought he won the lottery.

Jake and Dad, hanging out before bed.

Hmmm...what kind of trouble can I get in????

Oh, there's something!

Come on Dad!

I just ate a chocolate cup cake!

I wish I could get this shot when he wasn't covered in frosting! I love his eyes!

He's such a big boy!

What a 'sweetie'!
